Nature has been our greatest inspiration here at FARM Rio since 1997. We believe it is part of our duty to help protect nature and give back to the environment. This is why we have partnered with One Tree Planted since 2019, with the expansion of our brand to the US and other countries, to aid in reforestation efforts in all Brazilian biomes: the Amazon Rainforest - the largest rainforest in the world and our home -, the Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Cerrado, Pampa & Pantanal.
We started planting trees a few years ago in Brasil, our home country, in the Atlantic Forest and the Amazon Rainforest with our partners SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation and the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon - IDESAM, respectively. After that, we've also partnered with One Tree Planted, Instituto Curicaca, Instituto Homem Pantaneiro, and Iniciativa Verde to scale these initiatives even more, embracing all the other biomes. Together, we work to regenerate degraded soils through the planting of native species, boost local culture and economies, neutralize emissions, and recover our important biodiversity while protecting the environment. We help show that agriculture and the forest can coexist in harmony through plantings made in agroforestry systems.

How does the reforestation project work?
We plant 1,000 trees a day, every day, in all Brazilian Biomes (the Amazon Rainforest, the Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Cerrado, Pampa & Pantanal) with partners who are also passionate about nature. The project started with 2 partners, and now we have 6 organizations working together: One Tree Planted, SOS Mata Atlântica, Instituto Curicaca, Instituto Homem Pantaneiro, IDESAM, and Iniciativa Verde. Other partners like Retiro Yawanawa, Assobio Florestas Nativas, Anjos do Sertão, Tedesco Ecopark, Renature, and Instituto Ipê were also part of our reforestation journey for a better future.
What if a tree does not survive after planting?
The numbers we are sharing are based on the number of seedlings planted (or to be planted in the upcoming planting season). Ensuring the survival and development of these seedlings is the sole and exclusive responsibility of the rural owners and farmers involved in these projects.
When will the donated trees be planted?
The time between the donation and the actual tree planting will vary depending on each region and the time of year. Planting usually happens during the rainy season, when the soil provides optimum conditions for tree survival.
How do I know where the trees will be planted?
Every year, we select new projects to support alongside our partners, as listed above. Depending on the timing and status of funding, the trees will be planted in one of the areas designed for each project. We publish our sustainability report every year, which provides transparency for all seedlings donated in the year and shares the numbers and updates about our other initiatives.
